libRocket without OpenGL/DirectX

Is it possible to use libRocket without OpenGL/DirectX -- not in a game environment? For example with something like Windows GDI.

How would I go about translating the arguments of the renderer functions to GDI calls?

Would it be hard to modify the library to support this? Where should I start?
